Aldesa has successfully completed the development of Portugal’s largest solar park, a landmark project that strengthens its strategic position in the field of renewable energy in the Iberian Peninsula.
The infrastructure, located in the municipality of Azambuja, has been promoted by its client Neoen, one of the world’s leading independent renewable energy producers, and Aldesa has been responsible for its design, construction and commissioning, consolidating its role as a key partner in the development of large solar generation projects.
The park, which was officially opened a few days ago by Neoen, has a total installed capacity of 272 megawatts peak (MWp) and consists of two adjacent solar power stations: the Rio Maior Solar Power Station (204 MWp) and the Torre Bela Solar Power Station (68 MWp). Both facilities are fully operational and connected to the national grid via a 400 kV overhead line to the REN substation in Rio Maior.
The project, delivered by Aldesa, began feeding energy into the grid at the end of 2024 and is currently in commercial operation. Annual production is estimated at over 500 GWh, enough to supply the electricity consumption of more than 110,000 homes and avoid the emission of approximately 170,000 tonnes of CO₂ per year.
Aldesa is thus reinforcing its commitment to the energy transition and the implementation of sustainable infrastructure, contributing its technical expertise and management capabilities to highly complex projects.
Aldesa has consolidated its presence in the Portuguese market with this wind farm, adding a new milestone to its international portfolio of renewable energy projects, which now spans more than 15 countries across three continents.
