Aldesa to build strategic road to Poland’s first nuclear power plant

Aldesa has signed a contract with the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) to design and build a key access road to the future Lubiatowo-Kopalino nuclear power plant. The 15-kilometre-long GP-class national road will connect the plant site in the Pomeranian Voivodeship with the S6 motorway at the Łęczyce junction. The contract is valued at nearly PLN 200 million (€45 million). Completion is scheduled in 35 months, and the road is expected to be open to traffic in the second quarter of 2029.

The scope of the project includes the construction of a single carriageway road (1×2), roundabouts at intersections with district roads, the reconstruction of intersecting local roads, and the development of service roads, footpaths, and cycling infrastructure. In addition, a link road will connect the new route with the ongoing section of the S6 Leśnice-Bożepole Wielkie.

– ‘This contract marks an important step in the development of Poland’s strategic energy infrastructure,’ said Rafał Kański, Managing Director of Aldesa in Poland. – We are proud to contribute our engineering expertise to a project that not only supports the future nuclear power plant, but also brings long-term mobility benefits to the region. As with all our infrastructure projects, we are committed to delivering them to the highest technical standards, with environmental responsibility and community engagement.”

The new road will serve as a critical transport corridor for the delivery of equipment and materials to the nuclear site, while improving safety and reducing traffic congestion on surrounding local roads. Its construction is in line with the government’s broader infrastructure and energy strategy for northern Poland.
