Aldesa and China Three Gorges Spain (CTG Spain) have reached an agreement whereby CTG Spain will acquire 104.5 megawatts (MW) of solar photovoltaic assets in Extremadura, Spain. The portfolio comprises three photovoltaic installations located in the province of Cáceres: Belvis I (50MWp), Belvis II (50MWp) and Belvis III (4.5MWp). The assets are in a ‘ready-to-build’ phase.
The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) work will be carried out by Acisa, a technology company belonging to the Aldesa Group. Acisa will also carry out the operation and maintenance work for the three plants for a period of two years.
Construction of the assets is expected to commence before the end of this year, with the Belvis projects scheduled to commence commercial operation in the second half of 2023.
CTG Spain is part of CTG Group, China’s largest renewable energy group and the world’s largest hydroelectric company. The CEO of Three Gorges Europe, Ignacio Herrero, stressed that the company is ‘committed to continuing to contribute to Spain’s decarbonisation and energy transition process through the acquisition of renewable generation projects in the development or greenfield phase, such as this one in Cáceres’. He also stressed that the group’s objective is to ‘further consolidate our position as a key player in the country’s renewable energy sector in the long term, and we hope to move forward with these projects together with the Aldesa Group’.
Meanwhile, Félix Núñez, president of Aldesa’s Industrial Division, pointed out that this project represents ‘a new milestone for the firm in its contribution to a better future thanks to projects that, with a clear focus on sustainability, are capable of adding value not only for our clients, but also generating a very positive impact on society as a whole’.
