The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, officially inaugurated the expansion and modernization of the Tuxtla Gutiérrez–San Cristóbal de las Casas highway, a project that represents a significant step forward in connectivity and road safety in the state of Chiapas. The event was attended by Javier Lamas, CEO of Aldesa, and José Luis Moncada, Project Director in Mexico, who highlighted the company’s commitment to sustainable development and high-quality infrastructure.
The project, carried out by Aldesa in collaboration with Concesionaria de Autopistas del Sureste (CAS), involved an investment of 1.04 billion pesos and consisted of the expansion and modernization of the highway’s third lane, significantly improving traffic safety and flow. Key works included the construction of bridges, the installation of solar-powered lighting, embankment stabilization, and asphalt paving. In addition, new signage and drainage systems were incorporated to ensure optimal road performance during the rainy season.
With this project, Aldesa reaffirms its commitment to developing sustainable infrastructure that drives economic and social growth in the communities where it operates. The highway expansion not only reduces travel times and improves connectivity between Chiapas’ main cities, but also contributes to accident reduction and environmental protection.
Aldesa has been the reference shareholder of CAS since 2007 and, together with its partner AINDA Energía e Infraestructura, operates and maintains the Tuxtla Gutiérrez–San Cristóbal de las Casas toll highway (46.5 km) and the Arriaga–Ocozocoautla toll highway (93 km) in the state of Chiapas, Mexico. These highways connect the state’s main cities with the Pacific coast and the Chiapas Highlands. In 2023, more than 12 million trips were recorded on these roads, reflecting their impact on mobility and the region’s economic growth.
