Uruguay’s Minister of Transport and Public Works, José Luis Falero, has inaugurated the first section of Circuit 5 on Route 15, in the presence of the President of the Republic, Dr. Luis Lacalle Pou. The event was also attended by Aldesa’s Director General of Investments, Miguel Ortega, as well as Enrique del Castillo and Pablo Ruiz, Director of Construction Uruguay and Director of the concessionaire Autovías 5, respectively.
This marks the opening to traffic of the first 40 km, running from the junction with Route 13 to the junction with Route 14, in Lascano. The works are progressing according to schedule and will make nearly 90% of the roadway available to citizens by the end of the year.
Aldesa signed the project in 2022 for a total amount of €304 million as part of the Autovías Cinco S.A. consortium, which also includes Coalvi and Ramón C. Álvarez. The contract, structured as a 20-year concession, includes the design, construction, operation, and financing of a 184-km section of Circuit 5. Its scope mainly comprises pavement improvements, the construction of new infrastructure, and the upgrading of existing facilities.
