Aldesa wins €27.4 million Adif contract

Aldesa Group has secured a new railway-sector contract worth €27.4 million. The Coalvi-Aldesa joint venture, comprising two companies belonging to the Group, will carry out the construction works for the Júndiz intermodal and logistics terminal in Vitoria and its standard-gauge connection to the Atlantic Corridor as part of the project’s first phase, with an estimated completion period of 16 months.

Adif’s Board of Directors has awarded the Group the first phase of a project that will progressively transform the Júndiz intermodal and logistics terminal into an interoperable logistics platform and the first in Spain to be connected to the Atlantic Corridor using standard gauge.

The project includes increasing the number of tracks at the technical facility from three to four, with dual gauge to be installed on two of them. It also provides for a new intermodal module with two dead-end tracks featuring dual gauge and slab track, served by gantry cranes, as well as new road access to the intermodal terminal. The existing turnouts will be replaced with dual-gauge turnouts designed to accommodate future phases of the terminal’s expansion. The new intermodal module will retain the existing dead-end Track 9 alongside the concrete slab for container loading and unloading operations, served by a reach stacker. The tracks at the technical facility will have a usable length of more than 750 metres, while the loading area will be 460 metres long.

Aldesa Group has extensive experience in the delivery of railway projects both in Spain and internationally. It is currently carrying out the extension of the Bratislava tram network in Slovakia under a €74.6 million contract. In Poland, the Group is involved in the reconstruction of a 50-kilometre section of railway line No. 38 between Ełk and Korsze. The contract, initially awarded for €69.8 million, could reach €144.2 million if the client exercises two extension options. In Spain, Aldesa has carried out various works on the Mediterranean Corridor, including a section of approximately 62 kilometres in the province of Tarragona worth more than €110 million.
