Aldesa to Participate in the Development of Key Infrastructure for the Querétaro–Irapuato Passenger Train in Mexico

Aldesa, a leading global company in construction, infrastructure, energy, and concessions, will participate in the development of infrastructure for the Querétaro–Irapuato passenger train, one of the strategic projects promoted by the Government of Mexico to strengthen and modernize the country’s passenger rail network.

The company will join the project following the award of the contract for the design and construction of four auxiliary buildings along the railway corridor—an essential undertaking to ensure the operation and maintenance of the service. The contract has been awarded by the Agency for Trains and Integrated Public Transport (ATTRAPI)—an organization created by the Government of Mexico to professionalize and coordinate the development of railway transport in the country—to an international consortium in which Aldesa participates alongside several companies in the sector. The total contract value amounts to 3.279 billion Mexican pesos (160 million euros), and work is scheduled to begin this March.

The project includes the design and construction of four auxiliary facilities intended for refueling areas, workshops, train depots, and a maintenance base. These infrastructures will be essential to ensure the proper functioning of the railway service and the operational availability of the trains that will connect Querétaro and Irapuato. The new railway line, conceived as part of the ambitious plan to revitalize the national railway system promoted by the Government of Mexico, is expected to become a key infrastructure for regional mobility. It is estimated to reach a demand of around 50,000 passengers per day, directly benefiting hundreds of thousands of citizens and boosting the economy of the Bajío region.

This contract reinforces Aldesa’s presence in Mexico, one of its strategic markets in Latin America, and consolidates its international positioning in railway and transport infrastructure. According to Diego Hernández, General Manager of Aldesa in Mexico, “the project reflects the federal government’s commitment to modernizing mobility and developing a modern, safe, and accessible public transport network, driven by significant investments.”

With more than 50 years of experience and projects across three continents, Aldesa continues to expand its participation in major infrastructure projects, contributing to the development of more efficient, safe, and sustainable mobility systems. Its involvement in this project represents another step in consolidating Mexico as a leading reference in railway infrastructure in Latin America.
