Aldesa, awarded €33 million contract to build two tunnels in Mexico

Aldesa, a leading global company in construction, infrastructure, energy and concessions, has been awarded the contract to build two tunnels in Mexico on the section between Palenque and Ocosingo, part of the Palenque–San Cristóbal de las Casas highway in the state of Chiapas, Mexico.

The works for the two projects, awarded by Mexico’s Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport, are worth more than 659 million Mexican pesos (approximately €33 million) and are expected to take around 17 months to complete.

The first tunnel will be 320 metres long and will be developed by Proacon México, a Grupo Aldesa subsidiary specialising in major underground infrastructure projects. The second tunnel will be 200 metres long and has been jointly awarded to Grupo Aldesa in Mexico, Constructora de Caminos Chiapas, and Consorcio de Ingenieros Constructores y Consultores.

Both projects will include the construction of tunnel portals, earthworks, drainage works, paving, electrical installations and lighting systems, among other works. This contract strengthens Aldesa’s presence in Mexico, one of its strategic markets in Latin America, while consolidating its international position in transport infrastructure.

With more than 50 years of experience across three continents, Aldesa continues to expand its involvement in major infrastructure projects, contributing to the development of more efficient, safe and sustainable mobility systems. Its participation in this project represents another step towards consolidating Mexico’s position as a leading Latin American country in road infrastructure.
