Aldesa has signed a contract with Polish Power Grid Company (PSE) for the execution of an investment project involving the construction of a 400 kV extra-high-voltage transmission line: Choczewo – connection to the Słupsk–Żarnowiec line. The project is one of the key elements in the development of transmission infrastructure in northern Poland, enabling the integration of electricity generated by offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea into the national power system.
The planned transmission line, measuring over 20 km in length, will connect the Choczewo substation currently under construction with the existing extra-high-voltage Słupsk–Żarnowiec line. The project route runs through the Pomeranian Voivodeship, including the municipalities of Choczewo, Łęczyce, and Nowa Wieś Lęborska. The new transmission infrastructure will be a key component of the system enabling the integration of electricity generated by offshore wind farms into the national power system, as well as its safe transmission to consumers across Poland.
– The scope of the contract covers the execution of comprehensive works related to the construction of the 400 kV line, including the preparation of detailed design documentation, the construction of foundations and pylon structures, the installation of cables, and the construction of ancillary infrastructure. – The investment forms part of a wide-ranging programme to expand the transmission network being carried out by PSE in connection with Poland’s energy transition and the rapid development of renewable energy sources, in particular offshore wind power – says Mariusz Chodubski, Director of the Investment Programme at PSE.
The implementation of the project is a key element in the construction of modern energy infrastructure in Poland, which will meet the growing demand for electricity and enable the integration of new renewable sources into the power system. With the development of offshore wind energy in the Baltic Sea, it is necessary to expand the transmission network to ensure that energy can be delivered from the north of the country to the main centres of consumption.
Aldesa has many years of experience in delivering complex infrastructure projects in the energy sector, including investments related to the construction and modernisation of extra-high-voltage power infrastructure. To date, the company has built nearly 280 kilometres of power lines in Poland, contributing to the development of the country’s key transmission infrastructure.
Investments in transmission infrastructure require high technical expertise, experience in executing linear projects, and efficient coordination of work in demanding field and administrative environments. Nasz zespół w Polsce posiada w tym zakresie duże doświadczenie, które pozwala nam skutecznie realizować projekty kluczowe dla bezpieczeństwa energetycznego kraju – says Rafał Kański, Country Manager of Aldesa in Poland.
The construction of the 400 kV Choczewo line – a branch of the Słupsk–Żarnowiec line – is one element of PSE’s extensive investment programme, which aims to adapt the country’s transmission infrastructure to the challenges of the energy transition and the growing role of renewable energy sources in Poland’s energy mix.
